Rotate without losing quality
Because rotation is lossless at the pixel level, the only place quality could change is the final encode. PNG and WebP are saved losslessly, so a rotated PNG is identical to the original apart from the orientation. JPG is re-saved at quality 0.95, which is visually indistinguishable for photographs. To avoid any accumulation of JPG artefacts, keep a PNG or the original file if you plan to rotate the same image many times.

Does rotating an image reduce its quality?
No. Rotation and flipping are pixel-perfect geometric transforms — every pixel is moved to its new position without re-sampling, so there is no quality loss. JPG images are re-encoded at high quality (0.95) when saved, which is visually lossless; PNG and WebP are re-encoded losslessly with transparency preserved.
What is the difference between rotating and flipping?
Rotating turns the whole image around its centre — 90° puts it on its side, 180° makes it upside down. Flipping mirrors it instead: flip horizontal swaps left and right (a mirror image), flip vertical swaps top and bottom. Use rotation to fix a sideways photo, and a horizontal flip to correct a mirrored selfie.
Will my photo's transparency be kept?
Yes. PNG images keep their transparent areas after rotation or flipping because the transform preserves the alpha channel. JPG output cannot store transparency, so if you rotate a PNG and export as JPG, transparent pixels become white.
Can I rotate many images at once?
